Nikki & Zach

Our love story starts on New Year’s Day 2019, after matching on Hinge and connecting over having the same guilty pleasure: watching reruns of Jersey Shore over and over again. We bonded over our love of trash reality TV, watching cooking videos, trying new recipes, our preferences for the short-lived three weeks of Midwestern fall over any season, and how much we admire and value our close relationships with our respective family and friends (who quickly began to feel like they had been our own family and friends all along).

Q: What is your favorite thing about marriage with the other person?

Nikki: “My favorite thing about being married is getting to do all the ‘boring’ or not-so-fun life stuff together. Raking leaves, making a grocery list, taking our dog for walks, budgeting for the year. It’s all of the things I would still be doing if I did not have a partner, but Zach’s positivity makes these tasks fun and keeps life exciting in the little moments.”

Zach: “My favorite thing about being married so far is getting to share life experiences together! Adding a crazy puppy to our family, buying and working on our house, and generally getting to accomplish life goals together.”

Q: What is your date night go-to?

Nikki & Zach: Our date night go-to is trying new places to eat in our neighborhood or going to sporting events like the Clippers or Blue Jackets games! (In actuality, our REAL favorite is picking up coffee and a yummy breakfast on a Saturday morning and cozying up in our PJ’s).

Q: How did you know they were the one?

Nikki: “I knew Zach was the one for me when I started to recognize that he always complimented traits he loved about me and my personality, not just on my accomplishments or how I looked. Don’t get me wrong- Zach is the best at sharing words of affirmation about how hard he sees me working and he tells me I look beautiful even when I feel like a slob- but he is even better at sharing how much he admires my perspective or willingness to try new things.”

Zach: “I don’t think that there’s one single thing or moment that I can pinpoint as when I knew Nikki was the one. I think I fell in love and envisioned a long life with her when I saw how she treated and interacted with others- she was kind, loving, and extremely genuine with my family and friends.”
